About

Mechanical engineer by training. Seven years in simulation and CFD. Lead technical analyst by the end, working directly with Stellantis N.V.. Now building analytics systems — pipelines, data models, and reporting.

How I got here

Graduated from Mechanical Engineering, Cairo University, Class of 2018.

I worked at Optumatics from 2018 to its closure mid 2026, working on thermal and fluid modelling of vehicle parts, validating simulation results against real-world data, and presenting findings and design recommendations to the client.

Over time the work shifted from running simulations to leading people and processes - training a team of 15 engineers and building processes that made the team less dependent on me.

I gravtitated over the years towards data. Simulations produce enormous amounts of it across files and systems, and most of the hard work was shaping it so that anyone could ask a question of it. And I built that needed system.

Post Optumatics's closure, I kept going. I rebuilt the pipeline as a public project (check it here), taught myself the modern data stack, and started building things end to end to understand how tools and software fit together.

How I learn

With curiosity-driven structure.

I learn by building what I need, hitting a wall, then reading and researching until I understand the wall. This way, I can create a mental model of tools and concepts, backed up by what I experienced first-hand. And I always utilize AI (mostly DeepSeek & Claude) as a personal readily available teacher.

I also like to reguarly remind myself of Richard Feynman's famous saying:

"Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined, irreverent and original manner possible."

How I work with people

I've led a team of 15 engineers: training them, evaluating them, and building processes so the team got more autonomous over time.

I've also handled client communication directly, negotiated deliverables, and presented simulation findings with design recommendations to people who were going to make expensive decisions based on them.

What I'm looking for

Full-time/Part-time/Contract Analytics Engineer or Data Analyst roles.
Fully remote, locally or internationally.
Hybrid locally. I'll consider fully onsite for the right offer.

Off the clock

I love making things with my hands; I got into carpentry for a while, and I draw and paint regularly.
I play yoga sometimes, and I've swum twice a week for about a year now.
I am also a firm Bitcoin believer (Vires in Numeris ✌️)
